Today, I'm starting with a question for you....What is your vision of healthy living? Think about yourself first. Take just a minute and close your eyes....what do you see? My vision of healthy living may be different from yours', but that's okay. It's your own vision that will excite you and help you to believe that you can make a transformation in your life. This is what will make it work for you! Make sure you do your vision work before you read on. It's very important that you have your own "mental picture!"
It was about ten years ago that I first saw with my mind's eye a vision of me in the future. I didn't really see a body, but what I would "feel" like. I pictured myself carrying our grandbabies and being a "cool" grandma! (Of course, our children were only in middle school, so there weren't any grandbabies on the scene and still aren't -yet!) At that time, I was beginning to have trouble getting out of bed in the morning...lower back ache, some joint stiffness, minor aches and pains. Enough to get my attention! And, enough to make me think about what shape I might be in within the next 10-15 years. I knew if I didn't pay attention to my body, those years would creep up on me faster than I could "shake a stick at." Thus, my health journey began.
Spend some more time developing your vision of how you desire to look and feel in the future.
Ask yourself, what will be the cost if you chose to do nothing?
And, how will it make you feel when you do get there?!! This is where the excitement begins!
"Where there is no vision, the people perish..." Proverbs 29:18
"What you think about, you bring about!"
I like the two posts so far. Good topics. I think you will have a wonderful audience. In the last 50 years, we have so many changes in lifestyle and eating habits that it has affected all our health and longevity. We cannot reverse those changes because they are forward moves with technology. So, now you come in with how to adapt. Good thinking, Linda.
ReplyDeleteWell, the "vision" is here now -- already in my 60's -- guess should have thought about this in my 30's & 40's -- too busy working, cleaning house, taking care of children, etc, etc.
ReplyDeleteNow -- I can pay attention to me -- hope it's not too late. Yesterday I wore my snow boots all day and this morning the pad under my big toe was slightly red and puffy -- I thought, oh, no I've got "gout". But after rubbing it with my "miracle medicine - sayman salve",it is much better!!! I didn't have my exercise time this morning because of the problem. Tomorrow -- back to my 1-mile exercise program (in-house on DVD).
Thanks for your blog today.
Love,
Mary
